Social networking gone mental
One of the oddest things to find out about myself is that I’m way behind the times on certain tech things. In all honesty, it’s really when it comes to social networking. I joined facebook recently after an old college friend invited me after a long while of “not having enough time to care” about Facebook. Granted, FB - or StalkerBook as I like to call it - was very helpful during my 2 month holiday in the States in finding people I’d lost phone numbers for.
This week I started using twitter only because I can *sometimes* use it on my IPT - thats iPod Touch in case you were curious. Every other time I’ve seen twitter on other’s screens - usually iphones - it makes no sense at all.
Today I’ve been writing the long upcoming posts about what to look for when buying poses. I checked out the fashion feed and saw that Phoenix Chapman had blogged about Plurk. Me, being easily distracted while writing, decided to join. I wonder if I can get it on the IPT when the damn thing decides to connect to my home wireless network again.
When is enough really enough? I blog as much as I can and usually only when I have something to say. Well, sometimes. But usually I have a lot to type when I get around to it. Microblogging just seems a bit… off. Who cares if I’m eating cheetos that I just imported in from the states? (I’m not btw). Or that I’m sad that I ran out of sunflower seeds? (Haven’t yet since I brought 5 large bags of them back with me and even I can’t get through all of that in less then a week.)
Will joining these things make people like me now? Do I even care?
*update* Bloody hell! Plurk is far more addicting then twitter and FB combined.

Luth you seriously crack me up. I don’t know you other than buying your poses but when I saw this post today on my bloglines I laughed because it’s so true. I am completely addicted to Plurk, forgotten Twitter & I hate how FB looks. But I’m still there! Damn it!!!
Now I just feel dirty. Carry on.

Hah. I think only about 5 people know me other then buying my poses. It might be more now since SLCC. I now have 11 friends on Plurk so that number might be off. What’s the number that I need to have to be “cool?”
I really didn’t mind StalkerBook until they updated it recently. I’m still really curious how some can have 400+ people they want to keep in contact with.
Plurk is the new crack.

Hahahaha! I think the less friends you have & more fans makes ya cool! Def!
Hah! I’m pulling that outta my ass. Honestly, I only add ppl I know as friends, the rest can be fans, it makes me *feel* important. Sorta. LOL

Re: Friend vs. Fan - those I feel I can keep up with get friended (if I dare) and those who just want to keep up with me but aren’t in SL (like if they add me because I live in their area or whatever) only get fanned, and they can add me to their timeline but I can’t keep up with them.
And I am kinda glad you’re all addicted now :P

Not sure if I’m glad I’m addicted yet. May forget about it once I start animating again. Right now though it’s something entertaining while I take a smoke break.
I’ve found that when smoking pre-rolled cigs while working means I have to pay closer attention to them else they waste away in the ashtray.

Well, I’d rather see new poses than obsessive plurking, so….carry on :P I think the coolest thing about it is the opportunity to talk to those you don’t already know and mayhaps make some new friends you might not have otherwise.

I agree. I tend to be in work mode while in SL and rarely, if ever, talk to anyone. It’s been amusing to say the least.
